Carnival Ride
This was designed for another consultant whose specialty is carnival
rides and roller coasters. The framework is all welded steel. The structure is
mounted on a trailer and is disassembled in the field with the cars stored for
transportation. The arms (only one is shown) are actuated by pneumatics and the
rotation of the carrousel is accomplished by a ring and pinion gear driven by an electric
motor. The passenger sits in a frame at the end of the arm and uses a joystick to
control two opposed pneumatic actuators which pitch the frame to and fro to simulate an
airplane diving or climbing.

Solid modeling has made this task extremely easy. This design is a
door for a 65 mm removable cartridge disk drive. The design was first executed as a
wireframe. Execution of the same design in solids cuts the design time by 80%.

| Foam Washer For Conveyor
This design was a conversion of an existing European design to use pipe
fittings, regulators and valves readily available in North America. It generates and
distributes cleansing foam to a system of conveyors in a brewery. |
